Culture et Communications Québec

Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications

The Camp musical Père Lindsay benefits from an annual operating grant and has been able to make important renovations in 2015 and in the past thanks to the Capital Assistance program. Also, Mécénat Placement Culture has provided matching grants in support of the endowment fund for the sustainability of Camp musical Père Lindsay. We are very grateful to the Ministry for its continued support and recognition of the relevance of the Camp musical’s education mission.

Fondation Père Lindsay

Created in 1996 by Mr. Pierre Mantha, the Fondation Père Lindsay has over the years collected significant amounts of funds from private donors, which have allowed for a thorough renovation of the infrastructures of the Camp musical Père Lindsay.

Thanks to a contribution of close to $600,000 from the Fondation Père Lindsay and the financial support of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec, a new residence for the camp’s teachers was built in 2000; it was named Villa Cypihot, after a generous donor. This construction was followed in 2009, again with the financial support of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications, by a second residence to which the Foundation contributed nearly $300,000. The Camp musical wanted to honor Mr. Mantha’s support since 1996 as president of the Foundation and a major donor by naming this new residence Villa Mantha.

From 2000 to 2013, the Fondation Père Lindsay has contributed more than $500,000 to the Camp, thanks to funds raised from donors and the rental of the two villas, to cover the financing and occupancy costs of the residences. And since 1996, the Foundation has made an annual donation to the Camp’s Scholarship and Financial Assistance Program, designed to provide financial support to young campers whose families cannot afford to pay the full cost of their stay. This makes music education activities accessible to young musicians from all backgrounds. In total, more than $700,000 has been given to over 1000 campers through this contribution.
