Created in 1996 by Mr. Pierre Mantha, the Fondation Père Lindsay has over the years collected significant funds from private donors which have allowed for a thorough renovation of the infrastructures of the Camp musical Père Lindsay.
Thanks to a contribution of close to $600,000 from the Fondation Père Lindsay combined with the financial support of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec, a new residence for the camp’s teachers was built in 2000; it was named Villa Cypihot, after the family of a generous donor. This construction was followed in 2009, thanks to the renewed financial support of the Ministère de la culture et des communications, by a second residence to which the Foundation contributed nearly $300,000. The Camp musical wanted to honor the support since 1996 of Mr. Mantha as president of the Foundation and a major donor by naming this new residence Villa Mantha.
From 2000 to 2013, the Foundation has contributed more than $500,000 to the Camp through funds raised from donors and the rental of the two villas to cover the costs of financing and occupying the residences. In addition, the Foundation has made it possible for young people from all backgrounds to participate in the Camp’s music education activities. From 1996 to 2021, the Foundation has made an annual donation to the Camp’s Scholarship and Financial Assistance Program to provide financial support to young campers whose families are unable to afford the full cost of their stay. Music education activities are thus accessible to young musicians regardless of their social status. In total, more than $900,000 has been donated to more than 1,200 campers through this contribution.
The Camp thanks the Fondation Père Lindsay for its unwavering support.
On August 16, 2022, the Camp musical Père Lindsay officially recognised the Fondation Père Lindsay as a major benefactor, during a recognition ceremony for major donors, held at the Priscault Lake.
